Daphne Penna serves as assistant professor at the Dept. of Legal History at the University of Groningen and associate professor in Roman law at KU Leuven. Her research interests are in Roman and Byzantine law and especially their influence on the European Legal tradition. She is the author of Byzantine Law: The Law of the Eastern Roman Empire (Cambridge University Press), A Sourcebook on Byzantine Law: Illustrating Byzantine Law through the Sources (with Roos Meijering; Brill), and co-editor of A Companion to Byzantine Law (Brill).
