Comparison of clay minerals on the Late-Miocene and Early Quaternary sediments in the Penghu Islets, Taiwan and Zhangpu volcanic area, Fujian Province
This study presents a comparative analysis of clay minerals from Late-Miocene and Early Quaternary sediments in the Penghu Islets, Taiwan, and the Zhangpu volcanic area, Fujian Province. The research focuses on mineralogical composition, formation conditions, and geological implications, providing insights into regional weathering processes, sedimentary environments, and tectonic influences.
报告介绍
The lecture discusses the characteristics and differences of clay minerals in two geologically significant areas: the Penghu Islets and the Zhangpu region. By analyzing sediment samples from different time periods, the study reveals variations in mineral assemblages related to climate, source rock types, and diagenetic alterations. This contributes to a better understanding of Cenozoic sedimentary and volcanic history in southeastern China and adjacent offshore islands.
