Application of the random finite element and random material point methods to slope stability assessments

This lecture discusses the application of the random finite element method (RFEM) and the random material point method (RMPM) in slope stability assessments. These probabilistic approaches allow for more realistic modeling of soil variability and uncertainty in geotechnical engineering, improving the reliability of slope failure predictions.

报告介绍

The random finite element method (RFEM) has been widely used in geotechnical engineering to account for spatial variability of soil properties in slope stability analysis. This talk will present recent advances in RFEM and introduce the random material point method (RMPM), a newer approach that combines the advantages of the material point method with stochastic modeling. Applications to real-world case studies will be discussed, demonstrating how these methods improve risk assessment and support decision-making in landslide hazard management.
