- Size effect (SE) ubiquitously exists in different disciplines, such as physics, materials science, and the engineering arena, including mechanical and manufacturing engineering. SEs are involved in different size scales ranging from macro-, meso-, micro-, and even nano-scale, and induce different behaviours, phenomena and their scatters, which are really elusive and tantalizing.

报告介绍：
In this talk, the understanding of SE and its different manifestations in terms of behaviour, phenomena and scatter in different size scales and domains, including engineering mechanics, materials science and manufacturing, will be articulated, discussed and analyzed as to how it affects manufacturing by using deformation-based manufacturing as an instance will be elucidated. The talk will give a panorama of SE from different aspects in different domains.
报告人介绍：
Prof Mingwang Fu,傅铭旺教授，香港理工大学先进制造研究院副院长，机械工程学系先进制造讲席教授，SME、HKIE会员，英国皇家学会Wofson客座院士。研究方向为成形制造、有限元建模与仿真、材料损伤/断裂/疲劳、以及先进材料加工。
