界面设计与阅读多样性:并置布局如何促进对立观点新闻的阅读

报告简介：This research investigates how variations in digital interface design influence consumer engagement with news articles that express opposing viewpoints. Currently, most news websites employ a sequential layout, where clicking on a headline leads consumers to a separate page displaying the article content. Across four experiments, we tracked consumers’ news reading behavior, and found that the simultaneous layout—where all available news article headlines and the clicked article content are displayed on the same page—consistently increased both the number of opposing-viewpoint articles read and the overall number of articles read compared to the traditional sequential layout. The news articles presented in the studies covered some of the most polarizing social issues such as climate change, immigration, abortion and race. By shifting consumers’ mindset from reading choice to reading order, a simultaneous layout encourages broader engagement compared to a sequential layout.
