Understanding the energy nexus, which connects energy with other sectors, is crucial due to variable renewable energy pressures and fluctuating energy demand. Energy research must expand beyond traditional boundaries to encompass interdisciplinary and systematic topics. This talk explores future challenges and opportunities in interdisciplinary energy research, including renewable energy system flexibility and the role of digitalization in the energy transition. It emphasizes the importance of time, location, humans, and data in energy transitions. By recognizing these factors, we can navigate the complexities of the evolving energy landscape.
