报告人介绍:
Pierre Agostini (born July 23, 1941, in Tunisia) received his Ph.D. from Aix-Marseille University, France, in 1968. He worked as a researcher at CEA Saclay from 1969 to 2003 and served as Research Director there from 1999 to 2002. Since 2004, he has been a professor at The Ohio State University and became Professor Emeritus in 2018. His research focuses on ultrafast photonics. In 1979, he discovered above-threshold ionization; in 2001, he experimentally generated 250-attosecond light pulses and developed the RABBITT technique for characterizing such pulses. He was awarded the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics 'for experimental methods that generate attosecond pulses of light for the study of electron dynamics in matter.' In 2024, he was appointed Honorary Professor at Nankai University, where the 'Nankai University Pierre Agostini International Joint Research Center for Ultrafast Optics and Applications' was established.
Seeleang Chin (born May 24, 1942, in Malaysia) obtained his Ph.D. in Science from the University of Waterloo, Canada, in 1969. He spent most of his career at Université Laval, Canada, where he served as Chair Professor of Ultrafast and Intense Laser Science from 2001 to 2014 and is now Professor Emeritus. He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Waterloo in 2008 and was named Honorary Professor at the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2011. Prof. Chin has made groundbreaking contributions to strong-field laser physics, including experimental confirmation of multiphoton ionization and its saturation, and the first experimental validation of tunneling ionization theory in 1985, which laid the foundation for high-harmonic generation and attosecond science. He has published over 490 papers, cited more than 22,000 times, and received numerous honors, including the CAP-CRM Prize (Canada's highest physics honor, 2011), OSA Fellow (1995), and the Humboldt Research Award (2001). He also pioneered the field of femtosecond laser filamentation.
